Meet the Race Director
Joseph Fuller is from Dade City, Florida, and competed in NCAA Division II Cross Country and Track & Field at Saint Leo University. Following a successful collegiate cross country career, Joseph transitioned into trail running and ultramarathon racing. Alongside his full-time career, he serves as the Race Director for Skunk Ape Events and is a member of the Gasparilla Distance Classic Organizing Committee. He is a USATF member. Fuller is also the proud owner of two German Shepherds, a plethora of chickens and quail, two ducks, a cat, and a rabbit.
Skunk Ape Events
In 2018, Fuller decided to start Skunk Ape Events as his way to give back to the running community. He wanted folks to come out and enjoy the trails of the Green Swamp that he had ran so many miles in throughout college. To give the community another series of events and to simply have fun!

Gasparilla Distance Classic
Fuller has a part of the Gasparilla Distance Classic Assocation's Organizing Committee since 2019. The Gasparilla Distance Classic has a meaningful and lasting impact on the Tampa Bay community by promoting health, connection, and giving back. Beyond fitness, the race serves as a major philanthropic engine, raising and donating millions of dollars to local charities and nonprofit organizations that support youth, education, and wellness initiatives.

Proclamation from the City of Dade City - 2023
We had the honor to receive a Proclamation from the City of Dade City for this years Skunk Ape Night Run 30k by Mayor Shive.
We are truly grateful for Mayor Shive and his commitment to our community here in Dade City. The Skunk Ape Night Run is not only brought together by our local community, but all of those who make it out to the Green Swamp. The runners make the race happen and time and time again, I’m blown away.

2024 Olympic Marathon Trials

2024 Tahoe 200 Mile Endurance Run - DNF
The Tahoe 200 Mile Endurance Run was definitely an adventure. Such a cool journey out there. While I didn’t make to the 200 Mile Distance, I was able to achieve 100 Miles! The 100 Mile mark is something that has alluded me since my finish at the 2019 Long Haul 100. Ever since, I’ve been trying to achieve it to no avail. Finally, over the course of these past few days, it finally happened… 100 Miles!

2026 Disney Half-Marathon - AWD Guide
I had the incredible opportunity to run the Disney Half-Marathon as an AWD Guide. Sharing the course, the energy, and seeing Disney while helping make the race accessible and memorable was an experience I won’t soon forget. This was in part with Achilles International.
